Australia - Djumbunji Press

"Last year (2012) I spent six amazing weeks working with the artists at Djumbunji Press, Cairns, Queensland. Most of the artists working at Djumbunji were from the Torres Straight Islands. Many artists carve lino as a way of preserving the stories and knowledge handed down from their ancestors. The prints shown here are strongly influenced by the people I worked with and the lanscape around Cairns. Thanks to everyone who helped and inspired me. The artist to the right is Billy Missi, who sadly passed away since".
