The River Slea begins as a patch of marshy ground to the west of Sleaford
in Lincolnshire. It runs through Sleaford and eventually meets up with the
River Withim which flows south to Boston and the Wash. In 1792 work began
to convert the River Slea into a 'Navigation' to carry goods from Sleaford
to Boston via a junction with the already navigable River Withim at Chapel
Hill. The prints have been reproduced onto interpretation boards and sited along the riverbank at the points at which the sketches were drawn. For more information see Lincolnshire Public Art's website
