Printmaking Tutorial Page 1/9

To print a single block three colour reduction linocut by hand with a baren, you will need:

- A drawing
- A method of enlarging the drawing to your print size
- A sheet of lino big enough for the enlarged drawing
- Wet and dry sandpaper or sanding block
- A layout pad big enough for the enlarged drawing
- Black chinagraph pencil
- Lino cutting tools
- Masking tape
- Water based relief printing inks, colours of your choice
- Roller/s
- Baren or other method of applying flat pressure. People have used stones, tobacco tins and spoons
- Large pane of safety glass with ground edges
- Spatulas
- A big box full of rags, as lint free as possible
- Coloured pencils [optional]
- Hosho or other print paper. The number of sheets you want the edition to be.
